Summary: Hai Mian Qing Zi is a compilation of several short stories about the lives of farmers in Taiwan. The stories take place during the era when the Japanese government returned Taiwan to the government of the Republic of China at the end of World War II.  The stories tell about the changes of culture and fashion and also describe farmers’ difficulties and struggle to survive. The author uses dialogue in Taiwanese to depict the conversations and emotions of these people.
