Summary: Lianhua Jiemei is a collection of short stories that relate learning experiences from the lives of a variety of personified woodland animals, plants, and other parts of nature. Each story teaches a principle or illustrates the experience of a character with either a personal flaw or strength. There are sixteen stories at the beginning of the book lasting from one to five pages, and then two longer stories lasting about thirty to forty pages. The first is about the lotus sisters, the Lianhua Jiemei, who have to leave their home at the pond and make a new life on the mountain. The second is about a young boy named Guangguang and his bird, Little Xuehua, and their quest to find out who has sent him the letter.
